If anyone knows their alchemy and can help me out here that’d be great. I’m not so sure what vitriol means, or how the green lion eating the sun is symbolic of the purification of matter. I don’t really understand what that means. The caption says “The symbol is a metaphor for vitriol (the green lion) purifying matter (the sun), leaving behind gold.” Here in the wiki there’s an image that always stands out to me that I’m considering getting tattooed, but I don’t want to get something tattooed simply for the aesthetic the symbolism is more important.
