![]() ![]() the cutoff for house battery power on/off inside the van is by 2 rocker switches on the roadtrek control panel by the side door ( which also has the generator start/stop and house battery on/off to power refrigerator, propane heater, and stove starting current, and powers fluid tank level sensors. The roadtrek modification uses an isolator which is installed at top of firewall under the hood. Or replace it.The set up you describe is already in use on the roadtrek-modified express 3500 chassis. Once you've found it, treasure that intelligence - and try to repair Isolator is difficult, for its position is different in every RT. If the van engineĭoes not charge it, you may have a faulty isolator. If you punch thatīutton and you do NOT hear a little click or chunk, your houseīattery is so dead it can't even run the solenoid. Solenoid that turns the house battery on and off. If it doesn't, you may have a more serious problem, possibly one The CO monitor should stop chirping soon. The best way to charge your battery in a hurry is to When theĬO monitor chirps, that's informative, for it tells you your houseīattery is low. Is doing either, but it'll tell you more than the monitor. That doesn't really tell you how your battery I got a plug in voltmeterįrom Walmart and stuck that into one of the DC outlets in theĮntertainment cabinet. It says nothing about the battery, for those little Lights, that tells you it has enough power to light those little LEDSĪnd that's all. The main culprits are those wonderful safety precautions, I don't know about the 170 specifically, but RT house batteries canįail fast. Subject: Re: Roadtrek 170 House Batteryĭang you are smart Dody. If you have the patience to give me any suggestions, I'd be happy to listen. I think I may have left it on while not in use recently. ![]() Ramona Tire said they found a loose connection, but I tend to doubt that, because it was charging temporarily. It got me through a two month trip in the spring, but decided to die now. I try to be careful, but I try to stay reasonable about it. I know the things that make a battery go bad. I'm headed for an RV Repair place today for another matter, but I'll talk to them about the battery too.īy the way. Maybe you can see why I don't know which way to turn. Dunno!!! Guy at Colton looked at it for one second and closed it back up, saying he couldn't do anything. This tire guy says it should have been checked at least every six months. Mike Thompson RV in Colton, CA told me my marine battery was sealed and didn't need any care. Which I have to say, I think mine has been fairly forgiving. He said a marine battery is more forgiving. The manager said that the AGM reacts more severely, if you accidentally let it run down and that even an AGM will go dry out eventually. Should I get another marine battery or AGM? At Ramona Tire, one of the few places who will even install an RV battery, they recommended sticking with a marine battery. I know this has been discussed, but looking through archives is not very rewarding. They're not going to charge me for it, so I might go ahead and do that. They want to keep it overnight and test it thoroughly. Of course I'm reluctant to say I KNOW what the problem is, but I think I simply need a battery. They don't want to say I need a battery when they're not sure. They are SO CAUTIOUS about saying it's a bad battery because at one point they could see a "very strong" drain on it, but haven't been able to duplicate it. I needed it, so they said to bring it back when I have time to leave it. When I called them at closing time, they said they needed to keep it overnight. ![]() Ramona Tire kept my van all day to check it out. Believe it or not, the battery is now DEAD and awaiting a "professional" opinion. Thanks for all the advice regarding my battery. ![]()
